OVERVIEW
Ease of fertilizer use and its smart application combine to promote better crop yields for growers, protecting food affordability and availability, and supporting national and international security.
TFI supports policies that:
- Promote federal funding for 4R research, along with incentives for farmers to adopt voluntary nutrient management practices that rely upon the evidence-based 4R framework and related conservation approaches.
- Include phosphate and potash on the U.S. Geological Survey List of Critical Minerals to limit potential impacts on fertilizer supply arising from logistical disruptions.
- Provide greater cost-share opportunities for growers through the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) by enabling Certified Crop Advisors (CCA) to provide authorized nutrient management planning support.
- Support USDA research and reporting that keeps growers informed on domestic and international fertilizer trends.
- Exempt biostimulants from inappropriate designation as pesticides.
