Biography
Ford West is the president of The Fertilizer Institute, where he directs the association's efforts to promote and protect the industry before Congress, federal agencies, foreign governments and the media.
Prior to taking the helm at TFI in September 2005, Ford served as the Institute's senior vice president, where he directed the association's policy activities. Ford began his career at TFI in 1979 when he was hired as TFI's director of member services. During his tenure, he has also served as assistant vice president, vice president of member services and vice president of government relations.
Ford began his professional career at the National Food Processors Association in 1977 before moving to TFI. He graduated from Mars Hill College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree and from North Carolina State with a Masters of Science in 1977. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970 to 1974.
Ford is a native of Marble, N.C. He and his wife, Cathy, have three children and reside in Davidsonville, Md.
